MACadd becomes 2.00

Kevin Wells has released a new version of his application for looking up information about MAC addresses from the RISC OS desktop. Version 2.00 of MACadd brings with it a number of changes over the last release.

The chief driver of the update is that the provider of the remote application programmer interface (API) that was being used is no longer working with the software, so Kevin has changed the code to support a new one, called MACLookup.

Other changes include preventing multiple copies of the software running at once, tidying up after itself when quit by clearing anything it’s put in Scrap, and ensuring all files are closed if the program quits unexpectedly.

As the software is providing a means to send and receive information from a third party website, it needs a way to do that – and that’s handled by Wget, which you will obviously therefore need installed to use MACadd.

If you find any of Kevin’s software, why not consider rewarding him for it by buying some merchandise or with a small contribution.
